Theoretische Physik 2: Klassische Mechanik

This course builds on the knwoledge from Theo 1 class and covers more advanced concepts of classical mechanics.
Please remember to register to the OLAT course, and sign into a tutorial until Thursday, 18 April, 2024, 18 o'clock!
The first lecture takes place on Tuesday, 16 April, 2024, at 11.00 - 13.00 in OSZ H1. The first tutorial takes place on 29 April, 2024.

Lecture exception: The lecture on 28 June, 2024, will take place in OSZ H2!

Format: The lecture will be given in German and will take place In Presence.

Course organisation

Format of the lecture

  • The lecture will take place in presence in the lecture hall H1 inside the Otto-Stern-Zentrum (OSZ). Every lecture will be recorded and uploaded to Olat.

Communication between lecturer(s), tutors and students

  • Whenever you have any questions regarding the organization or the course material, please do not hesitate to approach your tutor or the Prof. Sagunski and feel free to ask them or write them an email!

Participation & Tasks (Studienleistung)

  • You will have a weekly exercise sheet (11 in total) with 20 points each to work on. You have one week to upload your solutions to Olat, the deadline will be Thursdays at 18.00. Please upload your solutions as only one PDF-file to Olat - please make sure that it is well readable and your name is stated. Bare in mind that every student must submit a solution.
    To be able to participate in the exam, you need to fulfill the following criteria (Klausurzulassung): i) Have at least 50% of the total points from all exercise sheets, ii) present your solutions at least twice in the tutorial, and iii) not miss your tutorial more than two times.

Examination (Prüfungsleistung)

  • The final graded exam will be written and takes 90 minutes. The final dates will be announced soon. You will have the opportunity to see your pre-graded exam the day after you have written it (dates tba).
    Please make sure to bring your Student ID Card (will be checked during the exam)! You are allowed to write and bring one DIN A4 page (front and back) with helpfull formulas etc.. Electronic devices are to be turned off during the exam. There will be a mock exam (Probeklausur) on Tuesday, 11 June, 2024, during the lecture.

Where to find the course material

  • All the material needed for the course - weekly lecture script and exercise sheets, results of the final exam etc. - will be uploaded to OLAT as well.
